Although I technically won this game, I think if redrum kept on playing, he would have beaten me out in the end. What should I have done differently? Sat on my 500 and rush him with something else ie longswords, or should I have sat back and gone tech?

My few cents :

- Going for pure iron rush is not a plan adapted to CTON. Of course, you need to defend. Egypt is esentially a long term civ: Happiness + wonder.

-Try to use demographics and diplo screen as often as you can to check the army size of your opponent and if he has iron or not.

- I dont see why you build so much warrior in the beginning, you did not had cash for upgrade and you have not met your neighbour. A worker would have been better. Of course, you get el dorado and upgrade all, but...

-I am not fond of your second city placement, you have no river, no access to see and no hill. I would have build 2 cities : one on the gold, and another one 4 tiles away north near river (you can have Spice from that city) . And I thing I would have build my 4 city to fill up the space between my cap and theses 2 cities to make roads more effective

- I am slowly learning that about CTON....

- I was actually checking it, but I often pop in and out very quickly so it is hard to see in the video

- About warriors, yes I agree, this is an old strategy I used to use from before league. Back when I didn't build economy (or workers) at all before I rushed. In my defense, my neighbor was Germany, which could have gotten ugly if I had waited.

- I am not sure what you mean by second city, because all of my cities were next to hills and had rivers....

nice explanation about the iron rush. you got to be ready for it so you gotta set it up, because if you dont youll get rushed back.

i know in age of mythology it was all about rushing from the norse. if you didn't set up for a rush you could get rushed immediately.

i did the iron rush tonight , of course i did somethings wrong. he had those war elephants and demolished my iron rush, it was bs. i probably went in too late as well, he knew i was coming because we were literally side by side.

good video though, i was clueless on what social policies to get , i really like Honor. well i was using honor at first because i'm very aggressive and not to economic minded. do you recommend getting honor to rush or would that hurt your economy too bad?

well thanks good stuff

I would get honour policy after you complete liberty. Honour does give you the free Great General and combat bonuses, but Liberty gives you free settler n worker, +1 production in every city, a free golden age, free happiness, and a free Great person which you can use to snag a wonder with engineer, or scientist to get a game-breaking tech.

Even if you are war minded you should go liberty. Liberty provides the production for building your army.
