Thanks Canuck

-Skirmish plains/Mirror Map(depends if all players agree and have)

-No barbs, CS, n ruins (normal game settings)

-Drafting, NO random, player with highest skill is captain of each team.

-Great Wall Ban

I think that 2v2 is an optimal players number.

I recommend you a rule that players from team can choose civ in draft only one time during the tournament = given civ only for one game.

I would like to play with all civs and wonders.

I prefer to play standard, not mirror map in team tournament. I prefer to North&South.

I would like to play with 2 cs as it is a part of this game. 2 CS is not to much, one for one team/map half.

It is teamer so 100% pure balance is not the best solution.

Well we have already run a 2v2, so I was hoping to move up to a 3v3, but if it becomes a problem filling up a 3v3 tournament I am fine changing it to a 2v2.

So many things are wrong in what you said:

I recommend you a rule that players from team can choose civ in draft only one time during the tournament = given civ only for one game.
- i find this rather stupid and kinda odd

Quote
I would like to play with all civs and wonders.
- again why? some civs matched up against one another would not be good (aka India vs Japan) add the Great Wall its just ridiculus.

I prefer to North&South.
- one of the most unbalanced maps in the game.

It is more smart than you think. Such rule is simple and quick. It adds strategy element to civs drafting. You have to plan with who you will play which civ.

hmmm. I have made the same mistake as you. Total balance of map was my first idea. I think that I have more experience than you with testing consequence of mirroring and balance start locations. I can make a statement that 100% equal start locations is wrong idea. This game needs unbalanced starting locations. Such unbalancing makes this game more dynamic and gives players more fun.
To reduce unfair situation, games results based only on map random, you can add 3 wins rule. It is better solution than idea of balanced/mirror map match. Map random is equal for all teams during several matches.

Tendency to reduce game functionality is one of consequences of using too much balanced maps where only one strategy is 100% successfully. I'm sure that Great Wall is not the game breaking wonders. It only makes expansionist strategy and quick rush less successful strategy. Civ5 is poor game and catting next element of this game is not a good idea.

Good luck in tournament.

-3 wins rules, this would take too long its already been confirmed for single elimination

-its a tournament, so we need to have the maps fair as possible, NvS has limited iron deposits, so if one team has all of the iron, then it will be an easy unfair game. This is why Mirror or skirmish will be used,

-Official tournament settings are in other post.

I would prefer a duel or 2v2 tournament !
3v3 Will exclude some players - merle, for instance, cant play 3v3.

ok well it seems it is too problematic to get a 3v3 tournament going, so we will turn it into a 2v2 tournament instead.

After work I will create a new tournament and signup thread.  But get your teams ready.

Well to be realistic, that is going to happen whether you specifically state it or not.  Admin/Tournament Directors are always going to have to make calls when players can not agree.  We can't possibly think of every situation in advance and make a rule for it :-/

You are right but such basic things like map script, civ drafting should be clearly defined by tournament rules.
