Formal Challenges on CivPlayers
« on: January 17, 2011, 11:51:23 PM »
I would like to clarify for many players that Rule 16 on Formal Challenges is still in effect even though we do not have a coded Formal Challenge System.

Quote
16. While most regular games are organized in the lobby "on the fly" by players that are currently in the lobby, at some point you may want to challenge a specific player in order to move up the skill standings more quickly than you would by playing low or medium ranked players. You may only formally challenge players when you are in the top 25 players. You may also only challenge players that are above you in rank. The challenge has to be played at the latest on a default mandatory date which is 7 days later than the date the challenge was issued. If a player or both fails to arrange for a time to play the challenge, 5% skill will be deducted from both players.  Problems  with arranging the time should be communicated to the other player and CC the Report Dispute Admin so that he can mediate the issues and possibly remove the challenge or remove the 5% skill drop from one or both players.

But since we do not have this hard coded yet the following procedure will be followed to use Formal Challenges:

1.  Email the player in the top 25 that you wish to challenge, CC the Head Admin or one of the other Admins in that email.

2.  In the Email title state "CivPlayers Formal Challenge for a Civ5/4/3 Game"

3.  In the email, being polite, state something like, "in accordance with CivPlayers Rule #16 I challenge you to a game of Civ3/4/5 within the next 7 days, please reply to this email soon to work out agreeable game settings and times to play the game.  As if we fail to complete this FC, both of us will have our skill reduced"

4.  The Admin that is CC'd will then reply to both players that this is a legal formal challenge under the rules, and if you can not come up with game settings he will set the game settings for you.

5.  All emails between players will be "reply to all" to ensure the mediating Admin is included and knows what is going on.

Any questions or clarifications can be addressed in this thread.

In addition can the challenger, that sends the email, please state the league name of the player that he is challenging please.  That way the admin does not have to be psychic and look up emails to see who is being challenged.

Thanks

One more detail, I will allow two or more players to challenge two or more other players to a team game, if all the players are top 25 as per the rules.  Settings should be agreed to by all players, but the admin can decide on settings if none can be agreed too.

The policy is for any team game, which is why I said "two or more players".  And yes I have spoke with Kyp we will be doing a 3v3 tournament, he just needs to set the tournament page up and decide on a schedule and map/settings.  So bug him when you see him :P
