Name just one of my decisions or actions that involved making fun of or bashing a player or showing any other sign of disrespect other than simply disagreeing on the matter. Just one. If you can't just leave me alone with your nonsense crypto.

Edit: P.S.: To be clear, I never defended dece because I think the suspension is ok. I just don't like the content of the posts CS and SPM made in the thread.

You used to bash me before you quit. Remember?  Then again you still do  :P

Can't we just all get along?  Were supposed to be a whole community of players who have a common interest, For fucks sake we all love to play civ, can we just play it without quitting and arguments?

Honestly, what has this league come to when I have to be the voice of reason?  ;D  I feel like i should be on the other side of this situation.

Not if your 4 cities produce a stack that kills someone ;) . And in the last anc game I remember playing with you you played OCC anyway because you had neither metal nor horse and were choked ;) .

@Destroyer:

Yes, you're right - I did and do say unfriendly things to you from time to time. But remember that you like to boast a lot and generally are not too shy of dealing out some harsh words yourself, so I think we're on equal terms here and no real injustice was or is done to you :) . I'll just try to ignore you in the future, ok ;)  :P ?

Tony, sadly last week we didn't get to play any Ironman. RP was around 30 minutes before it should have started, but staging into an anc ss.  I didn't see around other people that showed interest to play in this thread.

This week I think I will go staging at 19:30 CET and hope to get enough players till 20:00 CET.

P.S. Yes, Bantams, you can play. But if you start non-sense attacking someone just to fuck him up wasting any chance you've had to NOT finish last, I won't let you play in any future games, ladder or non-ladder. Consider it a last chance.

I knew when I posted what I did that some people, who have an axe to grind,  would bash me.  Fine.  You can call me names if it makes you feel good.  I can take it as well as dish it out. And I said my peace, something that I felt needed saying,  and I am not going to rebut people's opinions point by point.

But this one part of someone's response I think deserves some comments.

Quote
Dece may quit a game, but I'm sure that in the middle of an anc ss or classical game most players would rather have him on his team than let's say... you or CS or any other of the very rule-abiding, but bad players. In the end, most players on the ladder want to win the game, and they'll rather play with a player who gives them a high chance of doing so. And I don't think you really can judge the skill of a player because, frankly, you suck at the game (ya ya, I know, former #1).

First of all, this ladder was formed on the philosophy that we aren't about playing to win at any cost.  I seriously doubt that most people want to play with people who quit or force a scrap when they don't like their teammates, their civ, their land, or anything else that prevents them from grabbing an easy win, just because they have a high rank.

This is where we clearly have a *PHILOSOPHICAL* difference.  I do not think WINNING is the only thing that matters. I do think people want to play with people who follow the rules and exhibit good sportsmanship. A famous aphorism goes: "It's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game" which means that the end result isn't what's important, it's having some fun, and playing with pride and honor that creates true satisfaction.  This is a valuable life lesson which perhaps a few years from now you will better appreciate.

Our membership is fed up with people who quit and force scraps, ruining what could be a good game.  New players have been driven away in droves when they are called stupid, and idiots, by so-called "elites" who act arrogantly in games.  What's humorous is that there is so much luck in this game, that I have seen these same elites killed by a warrior on turn 10 more than once.

Second of all, you seem to think that having a high skill rating at a computer game makes you a better person, and that your opinions concerning everything, not just game tactics, are superior because your won-lost percentage is better than theirs. What a crock.

My Glicko skill rating right now is 1607 and my rank is 95th - so you can say I suck - but I guess I have a lot of company then. That makes me a better than average player, but I'm certainly not elite, nor ever claimed to be.  That's not important, to me anyway.  I'm much more proud that I'm one of just two people to have been duly elected by my peers to both the CIV3 and CIV4 Hall of Fame.

Whether one of our members is ranked first, 200th, or last, they still have value as individuals and don't deserve having their character or intelligence attacked. You can say someone made a mistake, in a game, in their actions, or even in their job as Admin, without attacking them personally.

The essence of good sportsmanship is winning gracefullly, and showing some humility.  You don't hear professional athletes saying that other competitors  "suck".  It's sophomoric and reflects more poorly on the person making the ad hominem insults than on the person being insulted.

Lastly, in my experience, really, really smart people don't have to tell everyone else how brilliant they are all the time -- they let other people figure it out all by themselves.

lol @ this thread!!

In Decebal's defense, he played until it was just me and him at the end.  Four other people quit because we were dominating them.

Dece is quite fun to play with when you are on the same team as him.  :)

That was a different Ironman, Z  ;)

But it's a known fact that people tend to remember only the bad things (like quits and forcing scraps or even "forcing continue" when others are forcing scrap and you just want to finish the game).
As Imho said, one of my major mistakes is that I've been playing way too much, hence I am a known quitter/game scrapper. But enough of this, Ape was right.
This is my last post off-topic so don't expect any answer from me. Since I won't be answering, please don't try any backstabbing personal attacks. Thank you. Feel free to keep posting though.

In my view you are a decently nice guy at heart, and you've done many nice things too. Like trying to help new players etc. Trying to organize something for them.

But you really need to get your act together. The games I've played with you like 50% have had problems with scrap or quit. The other 50% ran well, but that was usually because you were on the winning team. If you can fix this, I really like to play with you, and many others. But the bad part just really gets old fast.

This is classic. Since this is what canucksoldier and you did with the first post. Eventhough you meant it to be funny but you attacked there dece's character.
There is only ONE truth out there. That truth will be revealed in any case. The only question is the time.
