CTON RULE?
« on: September 12, 2009, 04:20:17 PM »
PLayer disappears about 60 turns into cton (maybe he couldnt reconnect iduno).  After about 30 turns a new player comes in (not sure if he ladder or not) to replace player who left, and ends up getting 2nd place.  How is this reported?

yes, I know it is sad a player could have ai for 30 turns and win, althouth a lot of players did die.
Once upon a time, there was a powerful and surprising rush.  In the end that humiliation motivated me way more than anything else could. (TMB)

Exact thing happened in a cton I played a few months ago. Game was paused, player was asked to leave (however, this player was not ladder) AI or player was reported in order he disappeared regardless of AI points. Funny thing is that the same player who left tried to show up the last 4 turns of game...missing 70 some odd turns and wanted to be reported 3rd instead of last.

Why are you leaving 'Take Over AI' checked in a cton? This function is really just helpful in teamers. If you give a dropper their 10 minutes to reconnect, and then continue, the scoring should be easy enough at end of game. Replacing a dropped player in a cton doesn't grant the replacement player any standing in the game.

1.  If you quit or leave a cton, you are automatically last place despite whoever might have died before you quit.  If there are multiple quitters, then the first quitter is last, 2nd is second to last, and so forth.

2.  There are no subs in ctons.  Unless somehow -- miraculously -- all players agree to allow such.

3.  If a new player joins in the spot of a quitter, you are to pause the game and ask them to leave.  If they will not leave, you reload the game from the lobby as it removes AI players (IIRC).

4.  If a player was gone for more than 10 minutes, then the player is considerred a quitter and it doesn't matter if they rejoin an hour later.  If it's a matter of 20 minutes or so, then maybe the players can agree on allowing the player to rejoin... but even then...

Most of these are common sense issues that sometimes get cloudy when people get competitively emotional.
