how to host/set up
« on: June 19, 2009, 07:09:42 AM »
Being new and all i took the time to look through the form to get as much knowlage from it as  can.(i'm more of a tactile learner ,a button pusher i need to seen how it works). the one thing a have not seen is any thing on how to host. i even tried to search for it  no luck. so i was wondering if such  post or thread exist? if not can one be made? i'm talking about one that spells out the game, turns, timer, settings, rules and the likes, you know the full montie. it can also be used as a reference for game types so everone is on the same page with how to set it up the right way.

 Thank you

Hi Max. I'll work on something. It's a good idea to have this.

For now. I will just tell you how to host, but i think you would know by now..

IF you want to host any type of game goto the left hand side it shows new game click that. There is also a bar (should say) MaxHeadroom's Game.. Change that to league teamer or Teamer, FFA, cton whatever game you want... IF you do not know any settings you can ask the players that join your game..

P.S  Hopes this helps.

We probably don't have anything on the forums about this because it's covered in the manual :P  The forums usually concentrate on stuff that is not covered easily in other resources, tactics and strategies being the best stuff here.

he was talking about the settings that are usually played in the league... I doubt he'll find any of that in the handbook.

just 2 of the most famous gametypes:

anc ss: (ancient start separated)

Players: 5vs5
Limit: 110 or 120 turns
Timer: Blazing
Era: Ancient
Map: TeamBattleGround, cylindrical wrap, large map size -low sealevel- top versus bottom, start separated
City Elimination Limit: 2

---

CTON: a bit like FFA

Players: at least 5, up to 10-12
Limit: mostly 120, more possible
Timer: blazing
Map: Inland sea, small with 6 or less, standard with 7 or more. Sea level is flexible. small / medium for 6 works, also std / high for 7. All depends on what you like.
Era: Ancient
Civ choice: Random, unrestricted leaders on. Games can be played with anonymous checked
Elim: 2 city ON
special rule: No private communication between the players whatsoever, don't give out any strategic information about your opponents (e.g. "he's a city down"). That sort of stuff leads to direct disqualification.

Well I guess I misunderstood, he did say "how to host" not "what setting are used in specific games on the league", but the second idea would be hard to have written in the forums as it does tend to be very dymanic at times.

I would like this as well.  All ready got caught thinking an ironman game was something it was evidently not.  Basic settings for a 1 v 1 and higher timespan team games (rennisance, modern) would be nice.

Also does anyone place the scenarios competitively?

Another resource for game settings is the CCC game settings.  Not all of them are as frequently used, but there should be something useful there.

Past CCC event settings are detailed in this forum.
