CCC scheduling
« on: May 17, 2009, 11:44:10 AM »
I have not been involved in the planning of the CCC event times so please forgive me if this subject has already been discussed but I have a question.

Why dont we have any events scheduled for Saturday afternoon and evening.  Most of us just sit around and duscuss the CCC and do nothing.  This seems like the time when most of us are available to play, yet there are no events scheduled.

Right now we have the :

Ancient at 3PM CET - 9PM EST
Modern at 11PM CET - 5PM CET
Classical at 7AM Sunday CET - 1AM Sunday EST

There is also the -do not forget- :
Iroman at 4PM CET - 10AM EST, but that doesn't stop before 10H later
& the OCC at 8PM CET - 2PM EST, that gradually move with  combien hour start with modern, to the second round of ancient -the player can now play modern on top of OCC, rather than 1st & 2nd Round of ancient.

What is your exact request/suggestion actually

Btw, I think we should move the 5v5 event. This is the most popular gameplay and requiring the most players. It should be placed at the best possilbe time .

I don't think that 9am for the US east coast or 6am (i think) for the us west coast, is the best place for it. Imo, it should be delayed for at least 3 hours, making it beginning of afternoon for US and late afternoon for europe.

You can´t see any event without its context. You have to keep the entire schedule in mind when proposing a change. It´s all depending on each other :(

Yes jobe, I keep this in mind but I still think the 5v5 should be in the best possible hour which I don't think it is currently.

see the whole picture of the event as well. If the final round goes down on points the event can always last 8-9 hours.

Last CCCs I always went to bed at midnight or passed midnight. You have problems waking up in the morning to play the Big Game on a Saturday, but you want us to Europeans to stay up all night long ? Mind I remind you we too get to wake up early at 7/8 am for the Classical on Sunday?

P.S. RUS get to go to bed 1h later than me.

The classical is 3 players... the classical isn't a 5v5... the classical isn't the favorite Civ4 BTS gameplay.... and finally, I'm french living in France.

Let me ask again ... because Americans are to lazy to wake up at a very decent hour in the morning you want Europeans to lose their entire night?

We're not kids or even students. Most of us have a family, friends, responsabilities! Most of us simply can't lose a night because their physical condition doesn't allow them to do it!

If anc ss is the league's favourite event I don't see any problem starting it at 8-10 am in the morning!

If you say so... I just find it unfair for american players. Except 1 or 2 events, the CCC event times are great for europeans... while americans have to play on friday afternoon (work times) then saturday early morning and sunday early morning. I think it's not well balanced and I just focused on the 5v5 !
If I'm the only one thinking this, I may be wrong and everything is for the best. So, no big deal  ::)

Considering the overall planning to put the big bulk of events rather early for americans is a necessity. If u would do otherwise, for europe it would be in the middle of the night.
At the moment for europe its afternoon till late evening and morning till afternoon for the US. I understand this is more convenient for the europeans, but at least its during the day for close to everyone (except people living farther east then moskva).
The only way to change this would be to move europe to asia so its the other way round  :P

the 1v1 event No1 should be swapped with the occ or even moved to saturday the first event on saturday sucks for us Euros whom are usually in bed at 6am the rest is fine though imo could do with 1 more event on sunday though or move the saturday 1st event to sunday?

The only gap is Saturday afternoon EU when there is nothing going on besides the big game and the ironman.

Event #5 -- Saturday 0100 EST - 0700 CET.
Event #6 -- Saturday 0900 EST - 1500 CET
Event #7 -- Saturday 1000 EST - 1600 CET
Event #8 -- Saturday 1400 EST - 2000 CET

So why not put event 5 at 1000 EST - 1600 CET

Then Europens will not have to wake up 6 in the morning and US will not have to stay up all night....and modern players will not play the ancient...muhahaha

Typically Saturday morning has the big game, then not much.  The civ community is over 50% EST, CST, and PST.  So the very best time slot for over 50% of is is Saturday afternoon, and evening.  This time is completely void of events.  How is this possible, the very best time for over 50% of us is unused.  Most of us, and is say the peeps that are in the US time zones, don't feel like we can change this, so we dont bother to try.  Look who has been defending the current schedule.  What does that tell you.
