Bantams is just being obtuse again instead of asking the real question of why Linde is *allowed* to still be a TD, the answer to his original question is simple, he's a TD on the forums because he is still a TD.....rather simple really.

CS

I find CS's comment about Bantams being "obtuse" as offensive as saying someone is being "obnoxious". CS needs to lose his forum privileges for a week and this whole forum needs to become members only. This is necessary to maintain order and fair rules for all.

maybe i would be offended if only I knew what obtuse meant :P

Obviously I was illustrating a point. I don't think being called obstuse is a terrible insult, but nor do I think being called obnoxious is a terrible insult.

Actually I was using the word "obtuse" as per one of the other definitions

"3.  lacking in insight or discernment "

And yes because you didn't ask why he was allowed to still be a TD, you asked a totally rhetorical question of why he is a TD, which you already knew was because he he was already a TD for quit some time, and being suspended does not automatically change that fact.  All of which has nothing to do with him seeing IP's, which he uses a third party program to do(not C4F) which I have no control over, but did have complete knowledge off what he was able to do, which was long before he may have started impostering people.  His guilt at the time was simply limited to posting peoples IP's in the lobby, which he stopped after I told him too.  So I'm not at all sure what your statement was suppose to be aimed at.

This entire thread is quickly degrading into pure anarchy! After witnessing this complete lack of ethical discussion I completely see your point SPM. 100% correct, if you allow even the tiniest flame or attack of character, it will degenerate very rapidly. We as posters should not have to be privy to reading this kind of discussion, please ban them all and lock this section down ASAP, we got a code red on the flaming.

ANARCHY WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!!

Why do I feel like this guy when I post here now...

Oh wait, it was never about the flaming, (Segregation) please disregard this entire post :P

lol, believe me I couldn't care less when you quit KC, but yes I will never allow witch hunts in this league, it matters not if the person is guilty or not, that is for the Admin team to investigate and deal with, not for members of the league to go off on linch mobs.

Calling someone obtuse is arguably ad hominem but mild enough that it wouldn't cross the line.  Someone called me "dim" a few weeks ago.  It's insulting, it bothered me, but it wasn't the kind of flame we suspend people for. It wasn't even much of a flicker, let alone a flame.

Now when you say, "X is obnoxious"  you are attacking that person's personality.  One definition of a flame is that's it likely to likely to engender an angry response. Being called dim (or obtuse) wouldn't make most people angry, but being called obnoxious likely would.

Now, for argument's sake, let's say in moderating flames we now said "obnoxious" is acceptable.  Well then we'd just be testing the rules with something even worse.  Slippery slope and all that.

As Justice Potter Stewart said about pornography, "I might not be able to define it but I know it when I see it".   I think the same applies to flames. Those weren't innocent remarks.  They were attacking someone.

FFS, what do you think "obnoxious" means? I call my kids "obnoxious" all the time.. it's not an attack on their character, it's simply a matter of describing how they are behaving. All it means is "deliberately annoying". It's hardly an insult worth suspending someone for, and even less worth locking down the forums for. Really, this is pathetic.

 :o

I mean this is why I do not ever comment or post on forum. It is pointless. I will make an exception today cause seeing this BS is just funny.

When I need to laugh or feel like need some comedy to cheer me up I go on forum to read funny conversations or "arguments", that some call it and then I smile. Trust me there is so many lately there is plenty to choose from.

This is like listening to a stupid arguing with more stupid, like dumb and dumber wih Jim Carrey. This never ends, nobody admits to mistake all think they are the oracles here. I have never seen BS like this. Even politicians know when to stop ffs.

Am I going to be boxed forever now? Seriously, I probobly will after what I have seen here.

From dictionary.com:

ob·tuse

1.    not quick or alert in perception, feeling, or intellect; not sensitive or observant; dull.
2.    not sharp, acute, or pointed; blunt in form.
3.    (of a leaf, petal, etc.) rounded at the extremity.
4.    indistinctly felt or perceived, as pain or sound.

I'm only responding here to illustrate a problem in how the boards are moderated.  I'm sure CS felt his comment about Bantams being obtuse was just a harmless retort in an on-going discussion.  However, under the rules in the Political Debate (currently hidden) sub-forum, this could be called a flame.  So, a moderator there could justify penalizing CS.

CS might defend himself by saying "I didn't say Bantams is obtuse; I said he was being obtuse.  This is all kind of silly.
