as canuk soldier said, the problem getting the regular earth players to create an account on this site so we can report scores for ranking.

Right now the most balanced map is Earth for the Ages but Long Earth 3 is close(mongols over powered); but it is up to the organizer which map they want.

We do have a mod that is 98% finished, it has 19 civs (ethiopia added); selectable leaders, 2nd uu for each civ as of now. We do have other plans but I only know how to mod XML and not SDK or python.

When the mod comes out we will be using it for any and all league games.

actually played one (LE3) 2 days ago, was fun. Started with 12 players I think.

by the time a regular cton would have been almost finished ( about 110-120 t ) there were 4 of us left - all ladder players, no Earth players remained.  :attack:

One guy was extremely upset because I off'd him. I am not sure what he was thinking my response would be to his planting a city 4 spaces from my capital...

My point; is war not usually a thing present in earth games?

I knwo what you mean spiral, i was in a similar situation and reacted the same and the player left. The other players grumbled about someone being so aggressive! I dunno about you, but I don't like land hogs myself and will always react accordingly....

Yes the host can transfer you the map but with so many players in a game the least amount of transfers the host has to make transfering such a large map the better. Most times 2+ transfer will equal a buggy game. It is best if all players that play the game have the map so there are no transfers.

When you download the map just make sure that you put it here and there will be no problems.

I was wondering what it would be like if played with same settings we usually play CTONs. Always war, random leaders for all players, no private chat, no alliances?   ;D

anyway, do u guys play with random civ? is it possible on earth scenario? if it is, it could bring much more fun to force player to adapt, not to play memorized strategy with his mate as friendly neighbour.

I'm definitely in.  Hopefully Acamus will get this up and running A.S.A.P.

Well, I have been trying to merge the two communities of "Earth League" w/ CivPlayers MP.  Seems the main problem is this: we need a randomized civ Earth Map.  As it stands now, this guy at the Earth League "One Crazy Canadian" is the one who "randomizes" the civ selections and assigns everyone civs.  I can't imagine that working in a ladder game.

Unless anyone has ideas on how to get the map done (CanuckSoldier conscript someone to help to get the communities merged?); the only way I can imagine doing it is just hosting a tournament with 1st come 1st serve civ picks.  That way we could pick off the Earthers piecemeal to bring these games to ladder.  I still think the randomized map is the best solution.

Whatcha think guys?

Randomizing the Earth map goes against what the earth map is about. There are earth maps that do random civs in their correct spots but the game becomes unbalanced like in most ladder games, or in general lottery maps.

The Earth map is about balance, in the League games we do random civ selection just using a random number generator. Just have it print out numbers 1-18 in random order and the person who signs up first gets the first number in the random number list. If you want a random earth map then use the one the map generator provides. Ladder maps are all random, Earth maps are made not to be that way in terms of the start.

Right now we have a new version of the mod I am trying to test out but I get limited help and my python/SDK coding skills are zero, but in the mod we have: the newest version of the map which is also the last of this kind, 2nd uu's for each civ, 19 civs (ethiopia added); selectable leaders which is our prime feature, and the new DLL that kills the OOS bug for naval assaults.

ATM, Rome is bugged but alt tabbing from the game then going back into the game makes it fine, Cobra and his friends seemed to have crashed multiple times but yet I managed to play single player and multiplayer (only 2 people) late into the game and finish it (turn 192 i think is when it ended) without crashing or OOS.

If a programer on civplayers wants to help it would be great.

also acamus we have combined civplayers with civearth for ranking, the problem is the majority of people who play earth are not computer friendly and refuse or don't know what to do.

P.S. CanukSoldier and I have communicated before on the merge

Not at all what I mean.  What I mean is starting spots and civs same as now, only with randomized choice of which civ you will be.

Also, if they have enough sense to download the map, they have enough sense to sign up for civplayers league, that is ridiculous.

I understand you run the civ earth league as a separate community, and that you want to keep control of the league games, where you have responsibility for assigning which civs go to whom, but I still insist that it will never work with an experienced mp community like civplayers where I guarantee earth will get better competition and more competitive play.

What I want is to take away the black box and make a randomized civ choice map of the current starting locations and civs so that noone is God of who gets which civ so that we can play earth with civplayers and combine the two communities.  I can surely understand as someone with a founders position and admin-type role at the earth league, why you would want want to resist such a move.
