Earth Ladder Game
« on: January 24, 2009, 10:07:27 AM »
Earth seems to be reaching a critical mass to where Earth games might be a ladder possibility.  Lots of noobs (like me) play but also I have seen a pro or two (panda) in them.  Might be fun to do as an ironman on a saturday or sunday, or we could do a turn limit otherwise.

I played one great earth game that lasted until modern with all 5 (remaining) civs within a couple hundred points of each other, so sometimes the games can be balanced throughout instead of fast dominance.

If there is any interest plz post it up here.  I got a few of the earth players interested; some are old pros from civ3... There is a critical mass of non-quitting earth players who want to play to finish, but not enough to fill a game (which is quite fun); would be nice if a few veterans are interested who won't call everyone noobs and scare off and instead encourage what should be a no-brainer addition to ladder.

The league has supported competitive earth games for quit some time now, but the earth community was not totally enthusiastic about organizing earth league games, it seems that it was just to much bother for some of them to register here to play a ranked game.  But I do hope that you succeed this time.

I think many more people will start to show interest in earth games once they go ladder.

I'd be up for an earth ladder game :D Start regging here boobies, and you'll get a lot more participation and games for earth. And much higher game/play quality when quitting becomes enforced by rules.

Well you can always play on Deity you know.  ;D
So quitting won't become such an issue.

Well, since we have some interest, and other than Panda all from people who I don't normally see in Earth games, I think we have a shot at this.  I am gonna try to get some of the earthers registered this week and I will post a tourney soon.  Thanks for the feedback.  Keep posting if interested

I would be down. I would consider myself a B level player but I think playing with a higher caliber group would accelerate my learning curve..Not a huge fan of tech trading..almost turns into a teamer at that point imo.

I never done earth; a few questions ...

Isn't the map and resources the same every game?  If so isn't there a best pick and worse pick?  For example England on a tiny island?  North America with the while of north america to themself?

But I would like to play.

What earth map is it on?  Send me link please

@ Bantams
Huts and raging barbs are kinda std for earth but I guess its up for debate.

@n0rperD
I don't think tech trading will be much fun and I don't think its a popular option so I really doubt we will want that.
